Open Day Saturday 6 May, 2017

Our Annual Open Day was on Saturday 6 May. The topic had an international flavour, ‘Celebrating Diversity’. The children and parents in our school represent so many different countries and continents, by exploring different cultures the children learned about the fun festivals, food, games, folk lore around the world. This gives everyone a better understanding of other ways of life.

Sponsored Fun Run For Japan

run_for_japan_photo1On Tuesday 29 March all the children in the school successfully participated in the Sponsored Run for Japan.
The school garden was beautifully decorated with Japanese flags that the children had made. This, along with the bright sunshine, made the perfect backdrop for the run.
All of the children ran enthusiastically and athletically and they all completed several laps of the garden.
The reasons for the event had been carefully explained to them and they were determined to run as far and fast as they could to help give the effected people in Japan food and new homes.
We took some lovely photographs of the event, which you can view and download from our Photo Album.
Thank you to those of you who have already handed in your sponsorship money.
We really appreciate all that you have collected.
Please hand in the remaining sponsorships this week, or next week at the very latest.
We would like to collect all the money and send the total to the Red Cross by the start of the Easter holidays.
Thanks again for all your enthusiasm and support.

The school also holds several yearly events where parents are invited.

Winter Concert and Party

winter_concertThe children perform in a Winter concert before the school breaks for the Winter term.
Santa usually makes an appearance too and this is followed by a Christmas party.

Open Day

The school’s annual Open Day is on the first Saturday in May.
The day is filled with many fun activities planned for the whole family and parents are more than welcome to invite friends and family. The children prepare artwork to display, as well as bake cakes and other goodies.
Our Annual Open day last year was on Saturday 4 May.

The theme was Belgium; there were many fun activities, face painting, book fair, food and games about Belgium including an art demonstration given by Christophe Polack, Architect and grand son of Andre Polack, one of the architects who designed the Atomium. With the help of Christophe and his wife Asiya, the children designed their version of the Atomium.

Our Open Day in May 2011 was on Maria Montessori: her Life and Method.
There was a display of Italian arts & crafts by the children. The various games, face painting, and other fun activities had an Italian flavour, and of course there was a variety of Italian food to savour.”

Our Open Day in 2010 was on Saturday 5 May.
The theme was “Flower Power”

We look forward to seeing you at our school!

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

mothers_day_smallThe children invite mothers to have afternoon tea at school.
They sing songs and recite poems that they have learned particularly for the occasion and give hand made presents they have made themselves to their mums.

Father’s Day Breakfast

fathers_breakfast_smallIn June, on the Friday before Father’s Day, the dads are invited to have breakfast with their children (consisting of croissants and juice or coffee/tea).
However, the main attraction for the children is to show their class and work to their dads.

School Play and Picnic

4school_plays_smallThe school term ends with performances by each of the three classes.
The plays are followed by a picnic in the garden. Parents bring a dish to share so there is usually a variety of food from all over the world.
